Project Background

Guangzhou International Commodity Exhibition & Trade City is a project set up in accordance with “Guangzhou Reply Document No.26 [2007] of Guangzhou Municipal Government on its Approval and Transmission of the Work Plan Submitted by Guangzhou Commission for Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation on Drawing on the Experience of Yiwu City to Push Ahead the Integration and Development of the Wholesale Market in Guangzhou” promulgated by the Guangzhou Municipal Government on April 20, 2007. The proposed Project is located in Hualong Town, Panyu, Guangzhou, with a planned area of 4,800 mu. With the policy support, GIETC strives to cut down its operational cost and elevate its global, information-based and modernized levels in order to build itself into:

•  World-class platform for exhibition and trade
•  Platform for relocation and re-development of downtown wholesale market
•  "Cost lowlands" for operation
•  Engine for accelerated elevation of regional industrialization and development of the modern service sector

The Project is rated as one of the top 10 key projects for 2009 in Guangdong Province and is approved and initiated as the key construction project for 2009 of both Guangzhou Municipality and Guangdong Province. The total investment of the project will exceed 14.5 billion yuan and is a super-large, specialized market complex integrating exhibition & trade, R&D and exhibition, bonded logistics, commercial hotel, financial services and living facilities. It is intended to build itself into a modern international exhibition & trade platform with the largest scale, most complete lines of commodity and impeccable functions in the world, striving for the most influential commodity exhibition and trade city across the globe, thus becoming the market pacesetter!

Favorable Geographical Location

Guangzhou International Commodity Exhibition & Trade City is located at Hualong Town, Panyu District, Guangzhou, which is the “metropolis area” of Guangzhou and the heartland of economic circle of the Pearl River Delta. It is adjacent to Pazhou International Exhibition Center, University City, Huangpu, Nansha quay port, New Guangzhou Railway Station, Panyu Modern Industrial Park and Guangzhou New City. The surrounding traffic is quite convenient. It is expected that by the end of 2010, “three longitudinal and three latitudinal” expressways will be completed in the vicinity of the Project. The three longitudinal expressways include Xinhua Expressway, Exhibition and Trade Avenue and Huangpu Bridge. The three latitudinal expressways include Pingnan Expressway, Xingye Avenue and Jinshan Avenue. By the end of 2010, five railways between Panyu and Hong Kong, Xiamen, Wuhan, Nanning and Guiyang will be opened at the New Guangzhou Railway Station. By then, it takes about 20 minutes ride to arrive at the New Guangzhou Railway Station, 1 hour ride to arrive at the airport, quay port, Shunde, Nanhai, etc, 2 hours ride to arrive at town of key economic importance in the Pearl River Delta, Hong Kong and Macao.
